You know that feeling when you’re on the cusp of going on holiday and the relief and anticipation are both running high?
Well, that’s where we are right now.
I’ve been winding down at work all week, packing, planning, himself has been booking things, and just preparing ourselves to get away. We are all SO ready for a break.
That last half term to the end of the school year felt like a long slog, even after a wonderful week in Whitby at the beginning of June. I don’t really know why. It’s not even as though we’ve had loads of activities going on – Cubs and Beavers finished a couple of weeks ago and Rugby stopped for the summer ages ago, we’ve missed several swimming sessions with small boy’s birthday and our trip to Legoland. Work isn’t too busy, we’re getting by and the work’s getting done, just about. I don’t know why we feel so ready to get away.
I think memories of previous, awesome trips are hanging over us a bit. Last summer we had the exact same holiday as we have planned this year, first to himself’s parents in Aberdeenshire and then to mine in Lincolnshire. Not quite the same as the wonderful adventures in France of previous years, but joyous in a different way.
So packing is almost done, just a few more bits to get sorted, and then we’ll be off in our wonderful truck, stuffed to the gills with stuff that we really need and other stuff that we might not even touch. The remaining question is what will I forget? There’s always something.
There will be some blog posts still coming and I’ll surely be posting lots of pictures of our adventures over on Instagram.

I hope everyone else has a marvelous summer, whether you’re just starting your break or almost finished. What are you getting up to?

Have a great holiday. We went away in February, but it feels like years ago. We were supposed to be going away camping tomorrow but that’s been postponed due to the covid situation here in Australia. Nevermind, at least we still have day trips 🙂 I hope you have a great time with your family. It’ll be lovely to catch up after such a tough year.

We’re windswept and we’ve been rained on already but it’s great to get away. I hope you get the chance too soon.

Switch off and have a gorgeous time away. We have a little break at the end of August – up in Edinburgh for some of the festivals that were able to be put on. Enjoy xx

Enjoy your holiday! We are starting 2 weeks holiday after today too but we’re staying home. Summer vacation rentals got snapped up pretty quickly because of the pandemic. We’re planning some day trip to go hiking but, beyond that, I’ll be sitting in my garden enjoying a book or two. I’m more than ready for a break as things at work are crazy right now.

Now that’s a proper staycation. Holiday places are all booked up here and extortionate too. Thank goodness for family with spare bedrooms.

I hope you all have a relaxing holiday and enjoy that precious tine with family. Our holiday this year was a week with our daughter and son in law in Derby. It was joyous just being with them after 17 months. I also enjoyed a break from social media. We will all still be here when you get back. 🙂
