One of those days

Smelly Socks and Garden Peas

One of those days where every little thing seems hard or stressful or goes wrong.

One of those days where no one else is getting things right either.

One of those days when the boys share a sofa and end up kicking and twisting each other’s feet.

One of those days when you take three goes before making your morning coffee.

One of those days when large boy takes half an hour to get his rugby kit on.

One of those days when you can’t stop sneezing because the heating launched the dust off the radiators.

One of those days where you cannot find your big warm boots and you’re already running late.

One of those days when you get to rugby and discover the gum shield is on the kitchen sideboard.

One of those days when small boy takes a tumble at rugby and then just loses all enthusiasm.

One of those days when large boy’s being dopey too and not engaging either.

One of those days when everyone’s fried egg sarnie turns out perfect except himself, the cook, who gets two burst yolks.

One of those days when you discover small boy had spellings last week but the sticker was on the wrong page and you never noticed.

One of those days when you try to clean the coffee machine and find that the cleaning cartridge can’t be read.

One of those days when large boy puts his waterproof on inside out.

One of those days when small boy puts his shoes on the wrong feet.

One of those days where you bump into himself’s colleague with their baby and your heart breaks a little.

One of those days when large boy is trying to teach himself recorder and making up his own notes.

One of those days when you realise at 6pm on a Sunday that you haven’t done a white wash of the kids’ school shirts yet.

One of those days where you follow a new recipe and it doesn’t come out right, should have follow your know how.

One of those days when everyone’s patience is short and no one knows why.

One of those days when you get into bed at 9.30pm and fall straight to sleep.

Just one of those days….

  11. So real, so resonant, so beautiful. Favourite line “One of those days when the boys share a sofa and end up kicking and twisting each other’s feet” We used to this as children, it always ended in a fight that mum would have to break up. Heheh x

  15. I can so relate! I don’t have kids but sometimes you just have a day or two where it seems like you can’t catch a break. Here’s to always hoping for a better tomorrow!

  18. We have all had those days, that’s for sure! Today was ‘one of those days’ for me as well… One of those days where I make morning coffee in my Keurig only to forget to put a mug underneath… One of those days when my husband messages me about an hour after going to work to say that he’s got some stomach bug and is on his way home (and we all know what sick men are like lol)
