Simple pleasures

Taking a minute to pause and enjoy simplicity is so good for feeling more positive.

I had a compressed day at work yesterday, trying to do at least three things at once through most of the day, squeezing in home learning too. It was non-stop and I was feeling hassled and stressed.

After dinner, while the boys watched TV, I watered the garden and sat for half an hour on the patio in the sun.

Small boy had made a paper plate sunshine and it was drying on the table.

Between the blue sky, the veggies finally moving to production, the warm sun, the paper plate sun and a bit of peace; my mood lifted.

So rather than letting the work stress get to me, from here on in I’m going to go to my happy place and revel in some simple pleasures.

Well that’s the plan, don’t hold it against me when it doesn’t play out that way!

  1. Hi SS&GP.

Jordan North would be proud of you! 🙂

We all need something to lift our mood from time to time, whether that is an actual something or a visualised something doesn’t matter.

Have you stuck the paper plate sun to your fridge door? It could then make you happy every time you see it 😉

  2. I love this! Honestly, I think we would all benefit from focusing on the little reasons that we have to be happy in our daily lives. Regardless of how many challenges we are facing, there’s always something that we can be thankful for. The key, as you did here, is to make the choice to focus on positivity.

  3. This is a lovely post. Life goes by quick. We ought to take some time to slow down and smell a flower, look at the butterflies. The sky is blue, so let’s take a second to admire the color. I love your paper sun!

  5. Love this post! It’s so vivid and vibrant. We were there with you, having watered your plants and sitting in the sun. Sometimes the outdoors and the simple messages of our loved ones are all we need. Lots of love x

  6. I always feel happier looking at something my children created too. Their innocence and natural joy perks me up and makes me forget about my adult worries.
