Woo hoo holiday tomorrow. You’d think I’d be winding down at work. Tidying up and doing as little as possible.
But no.
I’m fixing other people’s crap cos if I don’t do it now I’ll have forgotten about it when I come back and it’s not that important but if it isn’t done correctly now it’ll be very confusing later. My brain used to retain a history of why stuff was in whatever mess existed but as workload has increased more stuff gets forgotten. So, instead I intend to spend 10 mins tidying a small mess (cos it’s quicker than explaining to idiot colleague who will not read things and screw it up worse), only to find the mess is bigger than I realised and here I am 6 hrs later almost done. Hopefully.
What else is this last day getting spent on? Planning work for January, hooking up devs and writers, trying to understand the ever-changing release schedule, and three million acronyms/codes.
Also absorbing review of the training materials I wrote so that in my two weeks off my colleagues starting a new thing will have at least minimal supporting information. Cos the reviewers took three weeks and got back to me overnight last night.
On the plus side my “to do” list is down to 6 items!
Relaxed much?
Not a chance! Roll on Sunday afternoon arrival at campsite. Computer at home, no email on my phone. Complete cut off from work. Just pool, exploring, pink wine and sunshine. I might try to write a diary this year so I don’t forget all the stuff we did.
